About Our High School
Our high school is a small and nurturing environment where every student is challenged to work to their full potential. Low teacher to student ratio insures no student falls through the cracks and gets the help they need to have a successful high school experience. Each student is issued an Apple MacBook or a MacBook Pro computer, which is used to access Switched-on Schoolhouse, an online learning curriculum by Alpha Omega Publications for some of their coursework. Teachers and administration monitor all computer activity by way of Apple Remote Desktop software, which enables them to view individual student computers or all computers at once. Internet activity is limited strictly to academic work.
In addition to their computer work, students study Bible, Math, English and Lab Sciences in a conventional class setting. This year the 9th graders are studying the doctrines of the Bible and the 10th-12th grades are studying the Life of Christ.
In addition to academics, students may also take elective classes in yearbook, karate, film & theater, and music as well as biology and chemistry labs. Basketball, track and field, student government and worship team are other extra-curricular activities at BCA.
Spiritual life is a priority at BCA. In addition to daily Bible classes, students have weekly chapel services. Our goals is to provide each student with an opportunity to have an intimate encounter with God. We also want them to experience for themselves the transformational power of God’s word. Students also regularly participate in youth group and other ministry activities at Bethel Assembly of God, our church.
BCA high school students take several trips throughout the school year, including merit trips for good behavior and good grades. These trips allow high schoolers to visit places of interest and experience a variety of outdoor and recreational activities. Furthermore, since BCA’s high school is a college preparatory program, we encourage students to consider higher education. That’s why we take juniors and seniors on about 4-5 college campus visits per year in order to acquaint them with college life and give them exposure to the programs that some of our local undergraduate schools offer.
BCA has high standards of behavior for our students. We expect modest and neat dress, respectful speech and attitudes, responsible actions and hard work. We believe we are preparing the next generation of leaders in our community and we value each student’s gifts and talents.
